# A new way to use video blogs

Via [my cousin Sarah](http://writergrl.livejournal.com/), I stumbled across [this video blog experiment on the writer John Green's blog](http://www.sparksflyup.com/weblog.php).

John and his brother have decided that, for the next year, they won't write to each other; instead they will communicate solely through the medium of videos on the blog (phone calls are also allowed). I haven't seen this done before, and so far it's surprisingly entertaining, perhaps because they're both playing up to the audience (and using the choppy video blog editing style popularised by [Ze Frank](http://www.zefrank.com/theshow/)). As the year continues I expect their professional veneer to break down.

Wouldn't it be awesome to pair K12 students in different cities and get them to correspond like this?
