[The E-learning Lab's Workshop on e-Learning Tools](http://www.hum.aau.dk/video/2006/ell/iansemey/) is about Elgg from point 9 onwards, but also encompasses [Technorati](http://www.technorati.com/), tagging and more. It's very clearly presented and may be worth a look as an introductory resource.
