# I moved to Philadelphia

So, I live in Philly now.

Or to be more specific, Elkins Park, which is an area in Cheltenham Township, just on the other side of Philadelphia’s northern border. If you’ve read [Ann Patchett’s *The Dutch House*](https://bookshop.org/a/7949/9781663616623), you’re already familiar.

I know comparatively little about the area, although I’ve had family in Pennsylvania for generations. My great aunt lived here in the city for a very long time and still misses it; my grandfather spent his early years a few hours away in [Bangor](https://bangorborough.org/).

I’m excited to learn, meet new people, and try new things. As the parent of a six month old and someone who still believes the pandemic exists, I’m *not* particularly excited to go to group events, but I’d love recommendations for things you think I should be doing.
