Imagine living in poverty and not having your existence even acknowledged by the government in public. I would be furious.

@denlogue Coming to that. 100% agree.
America's population of people living in actual poverty with little social support, who don't feel listened to, is bait for a demagogue.
Comparing Trump to Hitler does a disservice to the 12 million+ people who died as a result of that man's regime.
In the aftermath of the Treaty of Versailles, and a global economic crunch, a German politician attracted support using a similar approach.

Most people won't vote Trump. But for the desperate, a rich dude saying he's going to make their lives better may be attractive.
Trump wins in states with above average unemployment (by official statistics that don't include non-participation). http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/two-numbers-may-matter-most-donald-trump-n533511
Trump says there are 93m unemployed Americans, which is ludicrious. But perhaps it makes his base feel not alone. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/aug/31/donald-trump/donald-trump-says-us-has...
If you account for retirees, there are still around 21m adults in the US who are either looking for work or have just given up.
People who have stopped looking for work - including those who have given up - aren't counted in unemployment figures.
